Ideal eco-retreat.... This 430 hectare ranch has been in the same family for 120 years, used for cattle and quiet enjoyment. Many birds, both migratory and resident, and home to all the native fauna of Yucatan.drawn to the plentiful year-round water of the huge aguada. It has remains of Maya pyramids, at least three "closed" cenotes, plentiful underground water. The two deep wells reach the second aquifer at 22 meters and there are also hand-dug shallower "artesanal" wells.
Living quarters - one bedroom owner's home, tack rooms, barns, corrals, are rustic but serviceable with electricity and cel service. Location is approx 14 km from Izamal and 7km east the village of Sudzal There are approx 20 hectares in grass with irrigation.
The land is rocky, not mechanisable. Much of the land is covered with Yucatan's typical low scrub with some high trees. The pyramid is hard to see - covered in scrub. The three cenotes have only a small mouth, but can be opened and made accessible after exploration. The isolation and peace of this land makes the ranch ideal for bird watching, hiking, and enjoyment of the lake. The online photos were taken during the hottest, driest time of year.
